Poster Contest
The Wayne Soil and Water Conservation District sponsors an annual poster contest for grades K-12. The poster contest theme changes each year based on the NACD (National Association of Conservation Districts) national theme. The rules and guidelines are followed by the NACD rules.
The Stewardship and Education Committee has developed a five-year rotation for stewardship topics – water, soil, habitat, forestry, and a topic of interest – and determines the theme each year. The 2025 Poster Contest and Stewardship Week theme is “HOME IS WHERE THE HABITAT IS". Posters must have this displayed as the title. Please go to www.nacdnet.org - click on Conservation Education Hub tab and then - and look for Contests for more detailed info! Lots of great resources!

NEW - WE ARE ACCEPTING EMAILED DIGITAL/SCANNED PHOTO COPIES OF THE POSTER(S) TO OUR OFFICE! TEACHERS, IF YOU HAVE CLASS, PLEASE LIMIT THE POSTERS TO THE TOP 5 BEST POSTERS. Or, you may still choose to deliver / drop off posters to our office.
DUE April 25th to our office...and only open to any school or student in Wayne County. Please have student entry form filled out with each poster.
Attention: Due to redirection of staff & programs, we will no longer have a representative available for student awards or picture taking at the end of the year. Teachers are also responsible for picking up posters (those that did not place or move on to District level) after judging is complete, if they want them returned. Thank-you.
Wayne SWCD gives cash awards for our local contest winners. Awards will be given for 1st and 2ndplace in the following grade categories:
K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.
The Poster Contest winner will be sent on to the District contest and also featured in the Wayne SWCD Fair Building in September. The District winner advance to State, and the State advances to the National Level for the Poster Contest. All entries are now digital - scanned copies.
Contest rules:
Any media may be used to create a flat or two-dimensional effect (paint, crayon, colored pencil, charcoal, stickers, paper or other materials on regular posters (no computer only special category)
Posters should be packaged so they remain flat when sent for judging
All posters must be created by an individual student rather than a team of students.
The Stewardship theme must be on your poster. Personal info should be on the back.
Although younger students will most likely receive help in planning from parents or teachers, NACD encourages each student to do as much of the work as possible by him/herself. Entries completed by students in their handwriting and coloring will score better than those designed, drawn and colored by adult assistance.
On the back of each poster, please print: Student’s name & age, School grade, Student’s home address,Student’s phone number with area code, School’s address and phone number, & Teacher’s name. NEW! There are FORMS available - with parent's signature required.
